Medical alliance rebrands with new name, areas of expertise

The Centers for Transfusion and Transplant Medicine, an alliance of medical organizations that includes Milwaukee-based BloodCenter of Wisconsin, is rebranding with a new name and logo while also broadening its areas of expertise.

The alliance will now be known as Versiti and will focus on five key service areas: Transfusion medicine and blood services, transplantation, stem cells and cellular therapies, hematology and blood disease, and oncology and genomic medicine.

“Our new name and logo better reflect the depth and breadth of this expertise and the diversity of our innovative science, products and services,” Jacquelyn Fredrick, president and chief executive officer of Versiti, said in a press release.

The name “Versiti” was pieced together with two parts – “Ver,” which points to truth, accuracy and versatility, and “siti,” which refers to university and diversity. The alliance’s new logo features a set of bands and an array of colors, which imply strength and the multitude of services offered by Versiti.

Along with BloodCenter of Wisconsin, Versiti’s affiliates are Heartland Blood Centers of Aurora, Ill.; Indiana Blood Center; and Michigan Blood.

“In an era of unprecedented change in health care, there is significant opportunity for blood centers to work closely with our health care system partners to support them in reaching their goals of improved patient outcomes, expanded access to care and cost efficiencies,”’ said Peter Ziegler, board chair of Versiti. “Having brought four blood centers together, we are well on our way to delivering enhanced value to our partners and communities.”
