Master Lock acquires Sentry Safe

Oak Creek-based Master Lock Co. LLC has acquired Sentry Safe, a personal safe and protective security container manufacturer, for $117.5 million.

Rochester, N.Y.-based Sentry Safe, which specializes in fire-resistant chests, files, safes and security storage containers, has annual revenues of about $150 million. It has about 500 employees and its manufacturing operations are in Rochester and Cannelton, Ind.

Master Lock, an operating unit of Deerfield, Ill.-based Fortune Brands Home & Security Inc., makes padlocks, security and organization products.

The acquisition will allow Master Lock to enter new global segments, scale its existing operations, gain innovation and take advantage of channel expansion opportunities.

“Sentry Safe’s strength in complementary product categories enable The Master Lock Company to leverage strong iconic brands domestically and internationally,” said Terry Horan, president of Master Lock. “We are excited about the growth opportunities we will now have together to drive innovation and leverage global distribution and manufacturing capabilities.”
