Marquette wins ACG Cup

The student team representing Marquette University’s Graduate School of Management took the prize at the Association for Corporate Growth’s recent ACG Cup competition.

Teams from University of Wisconsin, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater also competed for the cup by analyzing and presenting on a hypothetical investment acquisition for a panel of chief financial officers, investment bankers and other financial leaders.

ACG provides member mentors for the students and Milwaukee investment management firm Cleary Gull offers a training program before the competition.

The Marquette team included Ryan Johnson, Sean Luedke, Jesse Maier, Michael Schroeder and Mick Trevey. They advanced to the ACG Cup by defeating five other Marquette teams, and then took home a $5,000 prize for the statewide competition.

“Case competitions like the ACG Cup give our students the opportunity to analyze and solve real-world business challenges,” said Dr. Jeanne Simmons, associate dean. “That our students are able to showcase their technical proficiency, as well as learn to work in teams and make compelling presentations, is an invaluable part of our program.”
