Manufacturing a comeback

Wisconsin’s manufacturing economy is recovering with great strides. Wisconsin’s exports of goods increased 18.3 percent to $19.8 billion in 2010, and the state is on a pace to exceed that growth in 2011. The Milwaukee region is leading the recovery.

  • Canada remains the main importer of Wisconsin goods, followed by Mexico, China, Germany and Japan.
  • Wisconsin’s leading exported goods are machinery, computers and electronics, transportation equipment, processed foods and chemicals.
