The award recognizes an “outstanding individual who goes above and beyond in the fight against cancer,” the organization wrote in a statement.

The award was created to honor someone who performs special acts of kindness and strengthens the morale of either people battling cancer or their caregivers.

The winner will be announced at the foundation’s annual meeting at the Blue Mound Golf & Country Club in Wauwatosa on June 9.

Annex Wealth Management is also sponsoring the award. Annex has supported the foundation for years and recently signed a five-year sponsorship deal for the Lombardi Golf Classic.

“Our team is honored to partner with the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation to recognize an outstanding individual whose support makes a difference in those dealing with cancer through the Know the Difference Award,” said Dave Spano, president and chief executive officer of Annex Wealth Management.

The Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation was established in 1971 after Lombardi died from colon cancer at the age of 57. The foundation has contributed more than $18 million to cancer care and research across Wisconsin.
