Local charities named finalists in national Chase Community Giving program

Milwaukee-based organizations Hillel Academy Inc., and One Heartland Inc., have been named two of the top 100 vote getters from around the country in the Chase Community Giving program. Each will receive a $25,000 grant from Chase and will advance on to round two of the contest where they will compete for votes in order to receive a $500,000 grant.
“Facebook users have spoken and voted for some truly incredible and deserving charities. We are delighted that Chase will make a contribution to each of these worthy causes,” said Kimberly Davis, president of the JPMorgan Chase Foundation. “We continue to be inspired by the number of outstanding charities that choose to participate in the Chase program and the millions of fans who visit our Facebook page and vote for them.  The dedication and enthusiasm of the charities and their supporters is one reason why Chase has committed $25 million for Chase Community Giving to distribute to even more charities over the next two years.”
Hillel Academy, 6401 N. Santa Monica Blvd, is an educational institution that serves children K through 8 grade and is designed to instill Jewish moral and ethical ideals and standards in everyday life. One Heartland is an organization dedicated to providing underserved children, youth and families with materials and resources that lead to healthier lives.
Round two of the program requires each of the 100 organizations to submit an original ‘big idea’ in 1,000 characters or less describing how they would use the $500,000 to further its cause. Organizations may also submit a 30-second video and five photos illustrating their ideas.
Beginning May 19, Facebook users will vote again to select the best ideas among the top 100 charities.  The 25 charities that receive the most votes will receive between $20,000 and $500,000.  The winners of Round 2 will be announced on Thursday, May 26.
