Lena’s plans to re-open on Capitol Drive

Lena’s Food Market, a small chain of grocery stores on Milwaukee’s north side, plans to reopen its store at 709 E. Capitol Drive.

The store opened in 2007 in a former Jewel-Osco space. At the time Lena’s was leasing the space, and closed the store in 2008.

Now Lena’s plans to purchase the 80,076-square-foot multi-tenant building, reopen the store and lease out the remaining space to other tenants.

The Milwaukee Economic Development Corp. (MEDC) Tuesday approved a $500,000 loan for the $5.5 million project.
