Work has begun to redevelop the former Blommer Ice Cream Factory in Milwaukee’s Lindsay Heights neighborhood into a housing development.
The Legacy Lofts project at 1500 W. North Ave. includes rehabilitating and converting the historic former factory into 38 mixed-income apartments. A new building with 26 more mixed-income units will be built on vacant land just west of the existing building.
The $13.9 million project will bring to life the long-vacant former factory, which was built in 1928.
