Leader of Godfrey & Kahn relocation efforts named firm’s next managing partner

Nicholas Wahl, a shareholder of Milwaukee-based law firm Godfrey & Kahn S.C., will be the firm’s next managing partner. He will succeed Rick Bliss in the role. Bliss will lead the firm’s clients relations efforts and will continue to be a member of the firm’s management committee.
Wahl is leading the firm’s efforts to relocate its downtown Milwaukee headquarters to a new office building downtown, Bliss said. Godfrey & Kahn’s headquarters is currently located in the M&I Bank headquarters building at 780 N. Water St. The firm has said for years that needs more space to grow and eventually plans to relocate. According to commercial real estate sources the firm seriously considering plans to become the anchor tenant of an office building that would be developed by Wauwatosa-based Irgens Development Partners LLC and Joel Lee of Van Buren Management LLC on a parking lot site just east of the Pfister Hotel.
Wahl began his career with Godfrey & Kahn in the firm’s real estate and corporate practice groups. Currently he the chairman of the firm’s business services division, which is comprised of corporate, securities, real estate, financial institutions, tax and employee benefits and estate planning practice groups.
