Barrett Visionary Development, which is the developer for the 30-story Moderne residential high rise under construction downtown, plans to build a 44-story building with 179 apartments, a 180-room hotel and retail and restaurant space at the site of the Milwaukee County Downtown Transit Center at East Michigan Street and Lincoln Memorial Drive on the lakefront. Barrett was one of four developers that responded to a request for information (RFI) seeking development proposals for the Transit Center site.
Barrett’s project is being recommended by Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele. The project will require approval from the full Milwaukee County Board to move forward. At 531 feet tall, the building would be the third tallest in Milwaukee behind the U.S. Bank Center and the 100 East office building. Matt Rinka is the architect for the project.
