Lakefront brews more beer

Milwaukee-based craft brewery Lakefront Brewery Inc. increased production by 21.4 percent in 2013, filling 40,496 barrels of beer.

The 26-year-old company attributed the growth to the double -digit growth of its core brands and additional brewing capacity.

Lakefront President Russ Klisch also pointed to Beer Capitol, the brewery’s distributor, which delivered the equivalent of 237,000 cases in 2013, up 17.8 percent from a year ago.

“Our distribution partners did a great job promoting our beers to achieve this growth,” Klisch said.

Strong draft sales drove the growth Lakefront experienced.

“Our Wisconsin distributors had an incredible year with on premise draft sales,” said Chris Johnson, marketing director. “I was pleased with our out-of-state distributors’ enthusiasm when we gave them the option to order kegs.”

Lakefront also recently added additional tours to its schedule and began preparing its food on-site using locally sourced products.
