An affilate of Laacke & Joys Co. recently purchased a 51,000-square-foot industrial building in Brookfield currently occupied by a Pella Windows & Doors operation. Laacke & Joys plans to move its manufacturing operations to the building from downtown Milwaukee.
The Laacke & Joys affiliate bought the building at 3205 N. 124th St., Brookfield, for about $1.92 million from the Green Bay-based Calawerts Family Limited Partnership, according to state records. The building has an assessed value of about $3.96 million, according to Waukesha County records.
Laacke & Joys was represented by Bill Langhoff of Colliers International|Wisconsin and the Calawerts Family Limited Partnership was represented by Sam Dickman Jr. and Sam Dickman Sr. of The Dickman Company.
Laacke & Joys will move its manufacturing operations to the Brookfield building from 1433 N. Water St. in downtown Milwaukee, Langhoff said. The company has closed its store in the downtown Milwaukee building.
The Laacke & Joys building on Water Street was sold in 2012 to Riverwater Partners LLC, a group representing Adam and Laura Peck. The Harmony Initiative, a collaboration of the Milwaukee Ballet Company, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts and the Medical College of Wisconsin, is working on plans to establish operations there.
The Pella Windows & Doors operation in the Brookfield building that was purchased by Laacke & Joys plans to relocate, Langhoff said. The Pella operation uses the building for installation, distribution, retail and administrative purposes, but has only been using about a third of the building, he said.
