La Macchia Group managing shopping center project

La Macchia Group is managing construction of the Cornerstone Shopping Center at the southwest corner of Port Washington Road and Silver Spring Drive in Glendale.

Parkview Realty is developing the property, which formerly held a Ground Round restaurant until that structure was razed as part of Glendale’s redevelopment efforts.

The 14,000-square-foot center will include a Panera Bread store and restaurant, a Jos. A. Banks clothier, and a Pearl Vision eyeglass business, according to Ralph La Macchia, president of La Macchia Group.

"This is not a typical strip mall," La Macchia said. "We can’t wait to make the architect’s dream a reality because it’s going to be a great asset for the community." The Cornerstone Shopping Center will have "an innovative, four-corner design that is unlike anything else in the Milwaukee area," he said.

"Obviously, this is an exciting venture for us. This is a very visible project that will have a big impact on the retail market in and around Glendale," La Macchia added. Silver Spring Drive in Glendale has been completely redeveloped. Now, a major redevelopment has been proposed for Bayshore Mall and adjacent properties, kitty-corner from the Cornerstone property.

Cornerstone should have about five months to complete.

La Macchia Group, founded last May, has done work at Ruby Isle in Brookfield, the Metropolitan Credit Union in Milwaukee, and other projects.
