Minneapolis-based Kraus-Anderson Construction says it plans to open a new Milwaukee office, and has hired Mike Timmers to lead it. Kraus-Anderson has not finalized where exactly the office will be, according to a news release. The new location is part of efforts to gain a greater foothold in the southeastern Wisconsin market. The firm already has an office in Madison. “We’re aiming to strengthen our southeast Wisconsin presence,” Tom Roepke, Kraus-Anderson’s Wisconsin area director, said in a statement. “With the addition of a Milwaukee office, we see opportunity for huge growth in the southeast Wisconsin region. KA’s expertise in health care, schools, commercial markets, and our unique strengths in preconstruction and facilities assessment, are all well aligned to offer strong value to clients across multiple market sectors.” The company hopes to select an office location by early fall, Timmers said in an email. The office will likely be downtown or in the Historic Third Ward. It will start with three to five employees. Timmers joins Kraus-Anderson from Milwaukee-based Greenfire Management Services LLC, where he was director of operations. He also previously worked as project manager at Brookfield-based Briohn Building Corp. and Neenah-based Miron Construction. “Mike brings to Kraus-Anderson extensive project management experience, leadership expertise and depth of knowledge of the regional market,” Roepke said. “We are excited to have him lead our Milwaukee team.” Timmers said Kraus-Anderson wants to see steady growth over the next five to 10 years, and wants to become one of the top construction managers in southeastern Wisconsin. Kraus-Anderson has worked on several Wisconsin projects in recent years. They include the renovation of the FBI field office in Milwaukee, a tenant buildout for Strang Inc. in Madison and the Monarch Health addiction recovery clinic in Madison. Its repeat clients include Pick 'n Save, Scheels, Cabela's and several automobile dealerships, among others.
