Kraft Foods Group Inc. of Northfield, Ill., paid a civil forfeiture settlement of $36,908.50 for alleged violations of short weight product packages found in Wisconsin stores.
A weights and measures inspection by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection found 24 instances of false representations of quantity in Kraft products sold at several stores throughout the state. The Consumer Protection Bureau conducted the inspections between August 2011 and February 2012.
The short weight products included 11 packages of Oscar Meyer brand light beef franks, 12 packages of Oscar Meyer brand roast beef and one package of Oscar Meyer brand roasted turkey breast.
Due to an earlier civil forfeiture against Kraft for short weight packages in July 2011, the fines involved in this recent settlement were increased.
As part of the civil forfeiture agreement, Kraft Foods did not admit to violating any Wisconsin laws.
