The Southeast Wisconsin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure recently awarded $876,301 to eight local breast health organizations to fund programs helping women and men overcome barriers related to breast cancer screening and treatment.
“The Komen funding enables us to further the mission of helping Wisconsin women and their families reach their healthiest potential,” said Tommi Thompson, Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation. “Through the Kohl’s Southeast Wisconsin Breast Health Assistance Fund we are able to directly assist individuals with access to important breast health screenings and help breast cancer survivors overcome barriers to treatment.”
Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation/Kohl’s Southeast Wisconsin Breast Health Assistance Fund received $423,752. Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-St. Joseph Foundation, African American Breast Health Initiative received $34,335. Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-St. Francis, Su-Salud/Your Health program received $30,198. University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee College of Nursing, Partners in Pursuit of the Promise program received $113,773. Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints Racine, Mammogram Coalition; the Racine Health Department; Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints, and the Jane Cremer Foundation; Aurora Health Care, The Health Care Network received $98,096. ProHealth Care – Waukesha and Oconomowoc Memorial Hospitals, Breast Health Care Education and Screening received $42,30. Milwaukee Health Services Inc., Screen Out Cancer in Time program received $78,677. Finally, the Columbia St. Mary’s Mammography Mobile Outreach Project received $55,169.
