No incidents have been reported, but consumers are advised to stop using the unit and contact Kohler to schedule a repair. The recall is being done in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada.

The recall includes Kohler portable generator models PRO3.7, PRO3.7E, PRO5.2, PRO5.2E and GEN5.0-3003 sold between June 2014 and May 2016.

The units retailed for between $740 and $1,400 and were sold at Kohler distributors and dealers nationwide. About 7,000 were sold in the United States and another 230 were sold in Canada.

The units were manufactured by Sumec Machinery & Electric Co. Ltd. of China.
