Bay View restaurant and cocktail bar Kindred on KK has permanently closed.

The eatery had its last day of service on Sunday. Operators Marija and Vesna Madunic announced the closure via Facebook, saying there “wasn’t enough customers coming through the door” to stay in business.

Kindred opened in 2017 on the ground floor of Kinn Guesthouse, an eight-room boutique hotel located at 2535 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.

The Madunics are the owners of Milwaukee-based Gracious Events Corp., a full-service catering and event planning company that has been in business for 23 years.

They will now shift focus to expanding the company’s floral design division, and on their original restaurant concept, Firefly Restaurant & Lounge in the Wauwatosa Village.

Kinn Guesthouse owner Charles Bailey said he was sorry to see Kindred close. He has been “fielding offers” from business interested in the space, but hasn’t decided on a tenant yet.

In March, Bailey laid out plans to convert a downtown Milwaukee building at 600 N. Broadway into 62-room boutique hotel. Those plans are still in the works, he said.

Maredithe has covered retail, restaurants, entertainment and tourism since 2018. Her duties as associate editor include copy editing, page proofing and managing work flow. Meyer earned a degree in journalism from Marquette University and still enjoys attending men’s basketball games to cheer on the Golden Eagles. Also in her free time, Meyer coaches high school field hockey and loves trying out new restaurants in Milwaukee.
