Kettle Range Meat Company LLC plans to expand operations this summer with a satellite location in Elm Grove.

The business first opened its full service butcher shop and meat processing facility in April 2016 at 5501 W. State St. in Wauwatosa. It will open its second location in a 1,200-square-foot former Subway restaurant located at 13402-13404 Watertown Plank Road.

Owner Mark Bearce said the Elm Grove store will be identical to the one in Wauwatosa, selling retail items such as ready-made meals, cheese and charcuterie. Some processing, including fresh meat cutting and sausage aging will be done on-site, but larger-scale butchery will be done at the State Street location.

Bearce is seeking a $270,000 loan from the Milwaukee Economic Development Corp. to help launch the store, which targets a mid-summer opening, he said.
