Johnson Insurance Services extends reach with ICPI acquisition

Johnson Insurance Services of Racine has acquired Insurance Planning Consultants Inc. (ICPI), a national firm focusing on the health care industry.
The acquisition will be the fourth for Johnson Insurance in the law two years, noted Christian Lie, president of Johnson Insurance Services, a member of the $3 billion Johnson Financial Group.
"ICPI is a national managing general agent in the health care industry, which will allow us to grow our health care niche market and provide us the opportunity to develop a large-account division," Lie said. "This is our third entry in a niche market – aviation, professional liability and now health care. We continue to add and to look for services that our competitors do not offer."
ICPI has had a national presence for more than 40 years by providing insurance products to agencies across the US that specialize in the health care industry. Its clients work directly with health care providers.
The employees of ICPI will relocate to The Johnson Building in downtown Racine this month.
The ICPI name will remain, as the agency will now be known as ICPI, a division of Johnson Insurance Services. The ICPI name will continue to be used in marketing and branding.
"We’re now able to operate in a broad footprint nationally, which separates us from the generalists in our field," Lie said.
Johnson Insurance Services was started in the late 1980s and now employs more than 100 people at offices around Wisconsin. It is part of Johnson Diversified Insurance Services.
