Johnson Financial Group leasing top two floors and first floor retail space at downtown Milwaukee office tower

Racine-based Johnson Financial Group is consolidating its downtown Milwaukee locations with the lease of 45,000 square feet of space in the Cathedral Place office building, the company announced today. The 10-year lease is for the top two office space floors in the 19-story tower, plus space for a retail branch on the first floor of the building, located at 555 E. Wells St. With the lease, the company plans to consolidate its downtown Milwaukee associates by fall 2021. Johnson Financial Group will move more than 100 office employees to Cathedral Place from their current downtown Milwaukee offices at 100 E. Wisconsin Ave. and 333 E. Wisconsin Ave., where a Johnson Bank branch office is located. [caption id="attachment_434871" align="alignright" width="300"] Jim Popp[/caption] The relocation requires regulatory and other third-party approvals, according to a news release.
"We’re excited to be making a significant, long term investment in what will become our flagship location in the heart of downtown Milwaukee” Jim Popp, chief executive officer of Johnson Financial Group, said in the release. “This move allows us to consolidate a few locations, while also creating a modern, progressive and collaborative space for our associates and clients.” The office floors being taken over by Johnson Financial Group are currently occupied by Husch Blackwell. The law firm will move toward the end of this year into the newly built Huron Building at 511 N. Broadway. Bill Bonifas, Matt Cariello, Kenzie Kiefer and Andy Stefanich of CBRE's Wisconsin office represented Johnson Financial Group in the relocation. Van Buren Management is the building owner and landlord. Milwaukee-based Rinka is designing the new space. A general contractor and subcontractors have not been selected. The build-out work is slated to begin later this fall. "Our team has represented Johnson Financial Group’s national real estate portfolio for quite some time, but this project — in our own backyard — stands out as a game-changer not only for them, but for Milwaukee as well," Cariello said in the release. "It’s fantastic to see such a great commitment made by a company as well-known and respected as Johnson Financial Group, and I know they are going to love their new Milwaukee home."
