Brookfield-based Hunzinger Construction Co. has been building in the southeastern Wisconsin area since 1907. John Hunzinger has been a part of the fourth-generation, family-owned company for nearly 40 years. He has served as president for 30 years.

Under his leadership, Hunzinger Construction has survived both struggling and thriving economic periods by remaining steadfast and committed to growing responsibly. The company has positioned itself as a leader in sustainable building and 3-D modeling technologies.

Hunzinger has 35 LEED-accredited professionals on staff and has taken on leadership roles in educating clients, property owners, facility managers, subcontractors and architects on green building practices.

Hunzinger created a new division for the company that educates and trains people for the LEED AP exams. The division has helped transform the landscape of sustainable building in Wisconsin, and has positioned the company as the ultimate knowledge source.

He has also been instrumental in the firm remaining cutting edge in its offerings for clients.

Hunzinger’s 3-D building modeling technology, known as Virtual Design and Construction Coordination, provides a collaborative effort that is unmatched in the market.

By integrating the 3-D modeling technology with other technology, Hunzinger can provide a collaborative model that not only virtually constructs, coordinates and quantifies building systems and assemblies in the three traditional spatial dimensions, but also incorporates a fourth dimension of project sequencing/delivery detail and a fifth dimension of project budget and cash flow detail.

The transition to the new technology has saved both time and money for all participants involved in the projects, Hunzinger said.
