Artists Working in Education Inc., Milwaukee, has named Jezamil Arroyo-Vega as interim executive director.
Jezamil received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in architecture from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and she also served as a member of Public Allies Milwaukee in 2008 to 2009. Throughout her career, Jezamil has collaborated on projects in Milwaukee neighborhoods such as Silver City, Burnham Park, Layton Park, Harambee, Bronzeville and Avenues West.
“I believe that creativity and art are valuable gateways of expression in the transformation of individuals and communities. They allow us to heal, dream, believe and be inspired as we grow. I feel honored to continue nurturing Milwaukee youth’s imaginations through AWE’s meaningful art programming throughout the city,” Arroyo-Vega said.
