What does your daily or weekly fitness regime consist of? I do weight training five days per week, runn/cardio up to seven days per week. I am also a competitive rugby player throughout the year and during rugby seasons I will have two training sessions and a weekly game.
What fitness clubs do you belong to, if any? Westwood
Other than the obvious health benefits, how has being fit improved your life? Greater energy, focus, and overall good mood are the byproducts of sticking to a fitness program.
How does personal fitness affect your work life? I workout at the gym prior to coming to the office and it wakes me up and fills me full of energy to start the day. My ability to stick to a fitness regimen has really helped me mentally with the ability to get through challenging problems in my professional life.
How does fitness or wellness affect your overall organization? Overall fitness and wellness within the organization increases energy and productivity and it decreases sick days and down time
What advice do you have for other executives interested in starting either a personal fitness plan or corporate wellness initiative? Two things: Schedule your workouts like you would an appointment on your calender. It will be much more difficult for you to skip the commitment. There are always distractions that can pull you away if you let them. Secondly, if you are just starting, set an initial goal of gettigng through your first 4 weeks. Once you hit the 4 week mark you should be realizing the fruits of your labor and it will be hard to walk away from.
