What has fueled your company’s growth?:“J.M. Brennan’s growth has been fueled by our customers’ demand for service, quality, and workmanship. Our industrial, commercial, and health care customers need contractors who can meet and exceed their needs. We do this by putting the customer first.”

What is the biggest obstacle to your company’s growth?:“Our biggest obstacle to growth is uncertainty. If our customers are uncertain of whether the economy will grow or how government regulation such as health care reform will affect their businesses, they cannot commit the resources to expand their building or upgrade their facility.”

Do you plan any changes in your company in the upcoming months?:“Since my brother, John, and I purchased the company in 1997, we have expanded our capabilites, invested in our team, and hired additional tradesmen. We intend to invest in mobile technology for our service technicians and expand our paperless capabilities.”

Who are the business people, locally or nationally, whom you admire? And what traits do those people exhibit that make you admire them?: “John and I took over a successful business that was started by our grandfather in 1932 during the Great Depression. I admire entrepreneurs who start with nothing and build a business with nothing but their hard work and their reputation.”

What is the outlook for the business conditions of your industry over the next several months?: “While the construction industry continues to be very flat, our business has grown. We continue to provide our existing and new customers with the level of service, quality, and workmanship that they desire from a mechanical contractor.”

What is your company’s most important growth strategy right now: “Take care of the customer. Our customers are businesses, factories, and health care facilities. They demand quality, service, and workmanship. We provide it.”
