Investors to renovate former Kmart site in Waukesha

Lockard Development purchased the former Kmart store property located in Waukesha at 120 E. Sunset Drive.

Plans have been approved for a $14 million, renovation of the 115,000-square-foot building, which also will include a 10,000-square-foot addition and two new out-lots.

Lockard has signed leases from two retailers for the facility, Dollar Tree and Xperience Fitness

“We are excited to be renovating a space that has been a blight on an otherwise bright community,” said Robert Smith, president of Cedar Falls, Iowa-based Lockard.  “We strongly believe we can bring a tenant mix to Sunset Crossing that will complement the local economy.”

Randy Roth, president of Endeavour Corp., Lockard’s development partner on the project, said, “This area of Waukesha is seeing tremendous investment by retailers like Meijer, and now Dollar Tree and Xperience Fitness. We are grateful for the cooperation of the City of Waukesha, and we are excited to announce more new retailers in the months ahead.”
