Illinois unemployment rate ticks up to 9.2% despite more jobs

    Illinois added jobs in June but the overall unemployment rate still inched higher, according to data released Thursday by the state and federal government.

    The state gained 9,000 private sector jobs last month and has added 57,700 through June from a year earlier. Still the unemployment rate rose a tenth of a point to 9.2 percent, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
