Housing facility planned for female veterans

CommonBond Communities and Community Advocates plan to build a 28-unit, 31,330-square-foot building providing housing and supportive services for women veterans. The facility will be built at 4900 W. Fond du Lac Ave. in Milwaukee.

The existing 2-story, 6,000-square-foot, 50-year-old office building on the site will be demolished to make way for the women veterans housing facility.

The facility will have a mix of one, two and three-bedroom units which will accommodate a variety of families.

The developers plan to apply for affordable housing tax credits from the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) to help finance the project.

Milwaukee-based Plunkett Raysich Architects is the design firm for the project and Pewaukee-based VJS Construction Services is the construction management firm for the project.
