The board of the Wisconsin Institute of CPAs, a statewide accounting industry association, has named Tammy Hofstede president and chief executive officer, effective Jan. 1.

Hofstede succeeds Dennis Tomorsky, who has held the roles for 12 years. Tomorsky, 65, is retiring. Prior to WICPA, he was an attorney/shareholder at Davis & Kuelthau S.C., Niebler & Muren S.C. and Godfrey & Kahn S.C. Tomorsky was also an attorney at Evans & Luptak S.C.

Hofstede has worked at WICPA for 26 years, since she came on as an accounting intern in 1992. Most recently, Hofstede was chief financial and operating officer beginning in 2011. She holds a bachelor’s in accounting from Lakeland College.

“No one knows this organization and its members better than Tammy,” Tomorsky said. “Her long history and deep knowledge of the WICPA and CPA profession will make this a very smooth transition. Tammy’s demonstrated leadership is certain to have a significant positive impact on the organization and its members.”

“It is with honor and gratitude that I accept this opportunity to step into the president and CEO position,” Hofstede said. “Through the years, I have experienced many changes encompassing both the accounting profession and the WICPA, and I am excited to continue my involvement working with our staff and members, moving the organization forward and making individuals, our profession and the WICPA stronger.”

WICPA has more than 7,300 members in the public accounting, industry, government and education sectors.
