Healthcare.gov has crashed

Days before the Dec. 23 deadline to enroll for Jan. 1 coverage, HealthCare.gov suffered yet another outage.

Currently, when logging onto the website to search for insurance plans on the new Obamacare marketplace, a message reads, “The system is down at the moment. We’re currently performing scheduled maintenance. Please try again later.”

The Wall Street Journal reported that a problem occurred earlier today during a routine maintenance job. A spokesman for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services confirmed to the Wall Street Journal that the site was turning away customers because the technical team was trying to fix an error that occurred overnight, and that repair work began at 10 a.m. Friday and was expected to take about two or three hours.

President Barack Obama is holding his final press conference of 2013 at 2 p.m. ET, and is expected to address the troubled HealthCare.gov website.
