Development plans submitted to the city of Glendale call for a nearly 58,000-square-foot, four-story Hampton Inn near the northwest corner of North Port Washington Road and West Green Tree Road.

The new 90-room hotel would be built on the same site as the Fairfield Inn (formerly a Radisson hotel) as well as directly north of the Residence Inn and a PNC Bank branch. According to documents submitted to the city, cross-access parking agreements between the four buildings would remain in place.

To make way for the hotel, the existing North Shore Event Centre, which is attached to the Fairfield Inn, would be demolished.

Development plans for the Hampton Inn project were submitted to the city by Rachit Dhingra, CEO and managing director of Odyssey Glendale Hotel LLC, and are set to be considered by the city’s Plan Commission on Tuesday.

This marks the next step in Dhingra’s overall development plans for the area.

“I own that whole block — about 8 acres or so — and have been working on getting it set up for the future,” he told the BizTimes.

Dhingra said he brought the Radisson hotel around 2005. He continued to run it as such until 2016, when he first announced plans to convert it to a Fairfield Inn. That hotel is set to reopen in mid-March, while the Residence Inn next door opened just last year.

As for the event center, it is slated for demolition around April, he added. One remaining acre of land right next to the proposed Hampton Inn will eventually be developed for some sort of retail offering, such as a sit-down restaurant.

“There are a lot of options (for that acre),” said Dhingra. “We’ve got a lot of interest, but we haven’t selected who will go there yet.”

According to planning documents, the Hampton Inn would be the seventh hotel owned and managed by Odyssey.

Hampton Inn is a Hilton brand, and has over 2,200 locations globally.

Dhingra said each of the three hotels on this block will all be fairly small, with around 85-90 rooms a piece. Each hotel brand caters to a different customer base, he said.

“In my opinion, we are the hotel location in Glendale and the northern suburbs,” said Dhingra. “We’re kind of the place to go for companies in that neighborhood and travelers in general.”
