Hackmann earns Baird citizenship award

Robert W. Baird & Co. Inc. has named Glen Hackmann its 2012 Brenton H. Rupple Citizenship Award recipient.

The award, founded in 1998, recognizes an associate each year for his or her outstanding dedication to community service and support. The Baird Foundation also made a contribution to a charity chosen by Hackmann.
Hackmann has been at Baird since 1984, currently serving as managing director and the firm’s general counsel and secretary. He is chairman of the board for UPAF of Greater Milwaukee, a former president of the board at Florentine Opera Company and a former board member at Milwaukee Ballet Company.
“The Brenton H. Rupple Citizenship Award honors associates who best represent Baird’s culture and commitment to the communities in which we live and work,” said Paul E. Purcell, Baird Chairman, President & Chief Executive Officer. “For more than two decades, Glen has played a significant role – strategically, financially and artistically – in supporting and helping grow Milwaukee’s vibrant arts community through his dedication to the United Performing Arts Fund, the Florentine Opera Company, and the Milwaukee Ballet Company.”
He also received the 2005 Americans for Arts Michael Newton Award for his innovative fundraising strategies, leadership and commitment to the arts. UPAF awarded him the Mrs. Walter H. Stiernke Award in 2009 for his dedication to the performing arts.
“Glen is wonderful,” said Cristy Garcia Thomas, president of Aurora Healthcare Foundation and former CEO of UPAF.  “He has an extremely demanding job and is very dedicated to the work and the people at Baird, but when he gets engaged in the community, he is always willing to roll up his sleeves and give his time, his talent and his treasures. His leadership and passion for the performing arts have elevated UPAF and many other organizations in our area.”
