Guest House in need of hot meals

The Guest House of Milwaukee, a nonprofit organization and shelter serving homeless men in the city, is reaching out to the community with a need for meal donations on Monday, Wednesday and Friday next week.

The organization needs hot meals to feed its 110 residents during those evenings, according to Erik Koepnick, manager of volunteer services at the Guest House.

The organization would appreciate meals like pasta, chili or baked chicken to feed all 110 men, Koepnick said.

Typically the shelter receives meal donations on a regular basis from community faith partners, individual families, neighborhood groups, restaurant partners and teams of employees. It’s unusual for the nonprofit to have three nights in one week without a meal donation secured, Koepnick said.

Earlier this year, the Guest House nearly ran out of food after experiencing a decline in donations during the post-holiday season. Following a public plea for help, the organization welcomed a surplus of food donations from area families and organizations.

To schedule a meal donation for an evening next week, email Koepnick at erik@guesthouseofmilwaukee.org.
