Palmyra-based Standard Process Inc. recently released a book about sustainable organic farming. The book is titled, “Quality From Seed to Supplement.”
Standard Process is an 81-year-old company that provides health care professionals with nutritional whole food supplements. The company offers more than 300 products through three product lines: whole food supplements, veterinary formulas and herbal supplements. The products are available only through health care professionals.
“Quality From Seed to Supplement” retails for $15 and is available through the Standard Process web site at www.standardprocess.com. The company said it will donate $10 for every book sold to an organization that supports organic farming and farmers.
“To farm organically is neither the easy way nor the cheap way to farm. You can never let your guard down and are constantly staying in touch with every field, soil conditions, and the ever-changing growth of crops,” said Christine Mason, manager of the Standard Process Farm. “That said, I cannot express with words how rewarding it is to be so involved in the cycle of life on the Standard Process Farm. To partner with the land, cultivate, and care for it so that it gives you all it has, is a truly spiritual experience for me.”
Standard Process was recently named to the Inc. 5,000 list of faster growing companies. It was the fourth consecutive year that the company made the list. The company said it had $100 million of revenue in 2009 and that its revenue grew by 35 percent from 2006 to 2009. The company has 282 employees, and all but five work in Palmyra.
“Our growth reflects the fact that Standard Process is playing an increasingly important role in helping people improve their health,” said Charles DuBois, president of the company.
Former Governor and U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy Thompson, and his wife, Sue Ann Thompson, the founder and president of the Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation, recently toured the company’s facility.
“Standard Process is on the cutting edge of health and wellness,” Tommy Thompson said.
