Groundbreaking is today for sports medicine and fitness facility in Menomonee Falls

Minneapolis-based real estate development firm Ryan Companies US Inc. will host a groundbreaking ceremony on today to celebrate the start of construction for a $14 million, 90,000-square-foot sports medicine and fitness facility in Menomonee Falls. The Wisconsin Athletic Club and Froedtert Health will occupy the facility, which will be built on a 10.6-acre site southwest of Pilgrim Road and U.S. Highway 41/45.

The Wisconsin Athletic Club will occupy a one-story, 47,500-square-foot portion of the facility. The fitness center will include an aquatic center (with two indoor pools, a whirlpool and an outdoor lap pool), gym, training studio, exercise studios, fitness areas, locker rooms and a 5,000-square-foot restaurant space. The Wisconsin Athletic Club’s fitness center will open in November. It will have 75 to 100 employees.

The Wisconsin Athletic Club currently has six locations in downtown Milwaukee, West Allis, Waukesha, Greenfield, Wauwatosa and Glendale.

“The Wisconsin Athletic Club is excited to welcome the residents of Menomonee Falls and surrounding communities, businesses and service organizations to our newest and seventh location later this year,” said Wisconsin Athletic Club chief executive officer Ray O’Connor.

Froedtert Health will occupy a 42,500-square-foot, two-story portion of the facility. It will offer a variety of sports medicine and orthopedic services. The Froedtert Health facility will open in January of 2014.

“This project demonstrates our continued commitment to providing the right care, at the right time, in the right place to our Menomonee Falls neighbors as well as the surrounding communities,” said Dennis Pollard, president of Froedtert Health Community Memorial Hosptial and chief operating officer of Froedtert Health.
