The Grand Avenue Mall will begin offering shared collaborative retail space to artists, designers and vendors for discounted rents.
Leases will start as low as $100 a month and will go for three months, six months or one year. Retailers are encouraged to sell their wares, work on their art and grow their business through collaboration in the space on the west side of the mall.
Creativity Works, an initiative also located inside Grand Avenue Mall, has helped establish a long-term commitment to build upon non-traditional uses for former retail spaces. The goal is to fuel growth of West Wisconsin Avenue in Downtown Milwaukee by offering fun and attractive retail options for the daily business traffic, tourists and residents.
According to mall officials, more than 453,500 people live in the downtown community, there are 4.8 million people in the downtown area during the day each year and the Skywalk system connects the Grand Avenue Mall to nine major office buildings, the convention center and four hotels in the downtown area.
