The Glue Dots International building in Germantown could more than double in size, allowing for the creation of 10 new jobs at the industrial facility, according to plans filed with the village.
Glue Dots is a specialty manufacturer of sensitive and hotmelt adhesives, converting services and instant-adhesive products. It has operations in a nearly 61,300-square-foot facility at N117 W18711 Fulton Drive and employs 50 people.
It plans to expand this facility with a roughly 68,400-square-feet, two-story addition to the south. The resulting 129,700-square-foot facility would allow for an additional 10 jobs, according to a village staff report. An existing 12,200-square-foot building would be demolished to make way for the addition.
The addition would include a two-story, 12,000-square-foot office area and a 2,150-square-foot mezzanine.
Glue Dots is a subsidiary of Germantown-based Ellsworth Adhesives, a distributor of specialty chemicals and equipment such as adhesives, sealants and lubricants. The building expansion will allow Ellsworth to combine three of its companies (Glue Dots, The Glue Factory and Heartland Adhesives) into one campus.
Ellsworth did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Germantown’s Plan Commission will consider the expansion plans on Monday evening. The project team — which includes Milwaukee-based engineering firms The Sigma Group Inc. and Harwood Engineering Consultants Ltd. and Waukesha-based architect JAKnetter Architects Inc. — is seeking approval of a certified survey map to combine three parcels into one on the site, a conditional use permit to allow for storage of hazardous chemicals at the site, and site and building plans for the building expansion. A separate permit application will be needed for new building signs.
The combined parcels would result in a single 7.9-acre site.
Other proposed site improvements include construction of additional parking for a total of 129 spaces, a tanker off-load station, exterior dust collection and chiller, and an exterior nitrogen storage tank.
