GE Healthcare forms human pink ribbon to raise awareness for breast cancer

As part of its campaign to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month, GE Healthcare has been hosting GE Global Pink Ribbon events in 25 countries throughout the month of October.
GE employees from the US, Brazil, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Turkey, UAE, India, China and Japan will come together to form ‘human ribbons’, helping to raise awareness for the issues surrounding breast cancer. GE Healthcare employees in Waukesha met this week to hold their event.
“Our communications team really is top notch,” said Liz Blackwood, general manager of global quality assurance at GE. “They put this whole idea together. We work in the health care space everyday. Breast cancer awareness and fighting this cause is something that’s important to us everyday not just throughout this month. So this event goes a lot deeper for a lot of us at GE, it was a great turnout and a great event for all of us.”
The event featured more than 250 GE employees wearing pink shirts and also featured speakers including Ginny Finn, executive director of After Breast Cancer Diagnosis. Other keaders, doctors and survivors also shared personal stories of survival and information on the importance of early detection, screening, diagnosis and support was also made available.
According to Blackwood, GE Healthcare has committed a billion dollars over the next five years in research and development to expand its cancer diagnostics and molecular imaging technology.
“We already have many products that are used in the mammography space,” Blackwood said. “Our research and our products are changing the speed of screening. We continue to innovate to make things even better.”
