Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin is in the planning stages of a $13 million, 15,000-square-foot emergency department addition to its Moorland Reserve Health Center in New Berlin.
“Moorland Reserve Health Center opened last October, and overall response, including urgent care visits, has exceeded our expectations,” said Froedtert spokeswoman Kathy Sieja. “The emergency department at Froedtert Hospital sees many patients from the New Berlin area, so that factored into our decision as well. A full-service emergency department at Moorland Reserve would give residents of New Berlin and the surrounding area convenient, around-the-clock access to care.”
The emergency department proposal needs approval from the state and the New Berlin Plan Commission. If approved, construction is slated to begin in the spring. Fall of 2016 is the anticipated completion date.
The 135,000-square-foot Moorland Reserve Health Center, located near the intersection of Moorland Road and Interstate 43, offers many specialties, including cardiology and oncology. In addition to surgeons, a gastrointestinal lab and an urgent care clinic, Moorland Reserve has more than 60 physicians and nurse practitioners.
