Free People, other retailers announced at The Corners of Brookfield

Several retailers making Milwaukee-area debut at the development

The Corners of Brookfield will open in spring 2017.

The Corners of Brookfield continues to line up retail tenants, inking leases for three more spaces, including Free People, a bohemian women’s apparel store, that will open its first location in the Milwaukee-area.

Paper Source and Francesca’s have also signed leases at the mixed-use development, which is expected to open at Barker Road and I-94 in the Town of Brookfield in spring 2017.

“These additions to our already exceptional line up of retailers will help create a unique and desirable shopping destination for local and regional consumers,” said Jay Eck, vice president, Bradford Real Estate Services Corp. “These brands, added to dining experiences and high-end, urban design residential rentals, make The Corners the place to be in the Brookfield area.”

On Aug. 10, L.L. Bean announced it would open its first Wisconsin store at The Corners development. The 15,000 square-foot store will be located along Blue Mound Road, next to the Sendik’s, on the northwest corner of the development. Von Maur, the anchor tenant, will be located on the south-end of the development.

To date, just over 60 percent of the retail and restaurant space at the corners is committed, including all of the primary anchor tenants, Eck said. Von Maur will occupy 140,000 square feet, Sendik’s will open a 30,000-square-foot store and L.L. Bean’s space is more than 15,000 square feet.

“Remaining square footage is in strong demand, and we are in negotiations with an exciting mix of additional national and regional retailers and restaurant tenants,” Eck said.

The Corners will be home to several retailers entering the region for the first time including Free People, L.L. Bean, Von Maur, Arhaus and Twigs.

The Corners includes 400,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and 244 apartments. Other confirmed tenants include Anthropologie,  Café Hollander, Evereve and Lululemon.
