The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Festival Hall, 5 5th St. in Racine. Attendees will receive information on job opportunities and qualifications for the construction project while also connecting to become qualified if necessary.

State officials announced the event in connection with the launch of a new information website for the Foxconn project.

“We will soon break ground on Foxconn’s $10 billion advanced manufacturing campus in Racine County, and we’re starting to see a flurry of activity surrounding this once-in-a-generation project,” Gov. Scott Walker said in a statement. “We want businesses and residents of Wisconsin to have access to information when it comes time to get involved with Foxconn whether it’s for a new a job or involving their small business.”

The Foxconn project is expected to break ground this spring on an initial assembly facility that will be at least 1.5 million square feet and is scheduled to begin operations next winter.

BizTimes reported in January that Foxconn has chosen Rhode Island-based Gilbane Building Co. as the general contractor for its Mount Pleasant campus. The company, which has a Milwaukee office, was one of the co-general contractors on Northwestern Mutual’s downtown office tower.

The state is also planning to hold informational sessions for construction contractors in the near future. The events will be held around the state in Appleton, Eagle River, Eau Claire, Janesville, La Crosse, Madison, Milwaukee, Racine, Platteville, Superior and Wausau. Details on the events are expected in the coming weeks.
