Forum will focus on new realities in the M&A marketplace

The Wisconsin chapter of the Midwest Business Brokers and Intermediaries (MBBI) will present “Survived 2009? Thrive in 2010” on Thursday, March 25, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Milwaukee Athletic Club, 758 N. Broadway, Milwaukee.

The event will focus on closing mergers and acquisitions transactions in today’s market, covering topics such as marketing, strategic thinking, how negotiations have changed in recent years, new issues during the due diligence process and more.

“It’s important for professionals to have a solid understanding of what’s going on in the world around them as well as within their areas of expertise,” said Scott Bushkie of Cornerstone Business Services and MMBI chapter president. “Our lineup of speakers will provide attendees with incredible insights into what works and what techniques can be put into place to get deals done so they leverage their time and maximize their business operations.”

The event will include:

  • A lunch presentation by Robert Grede, founder of The Grede Company, a business planning and growth consulting firm.
  • A presentation on negotiations, featuring Tom Myers, attorney with Reinhart Boerner Van Dueren S.C. and Sandy Swartzberg, attorney with DeWitt Ross & Stevens S.C.; and moderated by John Kielich, managing director of Kolb + Co. M&A Advisors LLC.
  • A discussion on the recent evolution of due diligence with William Hucovski, CPA and Steven Glaser, attorney with The Schroeder Group S.C. The discussion will be moderated by Steve Peterson, managing director with Brass Ring Capital Inc.

This MBBI event is intended for accountants, business brokers, consultants, lenders, attorneys, business intermediaries, financial advisors and private equity firms that deal in the small end of the middle market, with average transactions in the $100,000 to $20 million range.
