Tán Ho, a co-founder of Milwaukee-based edtech startup Fiveable, announced today on LinkedIn that he will step away from his co-founder and executive role with the business and transition into a senior individual contributor role. His new role will be focused on no-code/low-code development and product support. “While I love being a formal company leader, I just love innovating for students and connecting with them on the ground even more,” Ho said in his LinkedIn message. “That is my strength. Students deserve what Fiveable has to offer. I believe my decision will help us reach and support even more students than before. Yes, I’ll still be working at Fiveable. I’m all in.” Ho co-founded Fiveable in 2018 with CEO Amanda DoAmaral and is the chief experience officer of the company. Fiveable has carved out a large presence in the edtech space with its platform that connects students and teachers for virtual after-school help sessions via live streaming. The startup has provided millions of high school students with Advancement Placement (AP) test prep and support. “A large source of my burnout this year (and primarily why I needed a month off) was trying to be both in the clouds and in the weeds at all times,” Ho said in his LinkedIn message today. “I always tried to be everything, even if I shouldn’t have. But I couldn’t be 100% at everything and the team wasn’t getting 100% of from me. I chose to prioritize Fiveable first for the last 4 years of my life. Now, they are helping me prioritize myself first this time by protecting my energy so I can continue to serve students for as long as possible.”
