Five area companies win federal research and development dollars

Technology grants awarded

Five southeastern Wisconsin companies are among 35 that have won 82 federal research and development awards totaling $23.3 million – primarily Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)/ Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) awards.
"The awards from these programs are a primary source of R&D capital for high-technology and other innovative small businesses," Gov. Jim Doyle said. "I salute these companies for their commitment to developing the products and processes of the future, and for contributing to the growth of Wisconsin’s technology sector."
The federal SBIR Program offers individual Phase I research awards up to $100,000 and Phase II applied development grants up to $900,000. The STTR Program offers individual Phase I grants up to $100,000 and Phase II awards up to $500,000.

JunTech, Shorewood,
Phase II SBIR Award from
National Science Foundation (NSF) of $500,000.
PhysioGenix, Milwaukee,
Phase I SBIR Awards from HHS and NIH of $346,421.
Precision Research, Kenosha, Phase I SBIR Award from HHS and NIH of $298,624.
Simulation Technology & Applied Research, Mequon, Phase II SBIR Award from Department of Energy of $737,976.
