Brookfield-based Fiserv acquired Bypass Mobile, an Austin, Texas-based independent software developer and enterprise point-of-sale systems innovator, Fiserv announced today.
The acquisition will help Fiserv power the next generation of omni-commerce capabilities, enabling enterprise businesses to deliver a “seamless customer experience” that spans physical and digital channels, according to a press release.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Bypass provides office management tools and insight engines for sports and entertainment venues, food service management providers and national restaurant chains. The combination marks the third acquisition in 2020 after Fiserv acquired MerchantPro Express and SAP earlier this year.
The acquisition builds on the companies’ current relationship – more than 50 major stadiums and arenas already leverage a blend of Bypass and Fiserv technology including the Fiserv Forum, Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, Florida and Citi Field in New York.
“Adding Bypass to our portfolio will make it easier for our clients to realize their digital transformation strategy, delivering interactions their customers are demanding,” said Devin McGranahan, senior group president, Global Businesses Solutions at Fiserv.
The acquisition will enable Fiserv to create new and secure purchasing across connected devices as Bypass integrates with the company’s universal commerce platform, the company said. “The mix of technologies will also give businesses the ability to work with a single provider and benefit from increased operational efficiency, improved security and a more complete picture of customer interactions,” the company said in a news release.
Founded in 2010, Bypass has become a leader in point-of-sale systems, working with more than 300 national chains, sports and entertainment properties, and cafes in corporate, health care and educational settings across 18,000 registers.
The company combines front-of-house, self-service, back-office tools and insights for an integrated solution that brings innovation, sophistication and scalability of e-commerce to physical merchants.
