Extreme heat forces Summerfest to modify carry-in policies

Temperatures are expected to reach 100 degrees today and Summerfest has modified its water carry-in policy in response.

Summerfest will allow patrons to carry in unopened clear bottles of water, empty camel backs or empty collapsible and refillable water bottles.
The festival has also installed ‘misting stations’ on the north, south and middle of the Summerfest grounds and has increased its staff trained to deal with medical emergencies.
Summerfest officials are encouraging patrons to frequen air conditioned exhibitor areas on the grounds including the Playstation Experience and the Dental Health Spa, and the Columbia St. Mary’s Cool Down Lounge. Air conditioned buses will also be parked inside the grounds for additional air conditioned space.
