Alverno College, Milwaukee, has named Mary Beth Berkes, co-founding partner and retired managing director of Linden LLC, a health care and life science private equity firm headquartered in Chicago, as chair of the board of trustees for the school. She joined the Alverno College board of trustees in 2005 and has served as vice chair since 2010.

Trauma surgeon Dr. John Weigelt has been awarded the Thomas L. Smallwood Award for Patient Care Excellence by the board of directors of Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa. Weigelt is widely published and a nationally recognized leader in trauma surgery and surgical education. He is the Medical College of Wisconsin’s chief of trauma and critical care, and serves as medical director of the joint clinical quality office of Froedtert and the Medical College in Wauwatosa. The Thomas L. Smallwood Award was established in 2003 to honor outstanding contributions to the care of patients at Froedtert Hospital.

Froedtert Health, Wauwatosa, has named Kathy McCann to the position of finance site director for Froedtert Hospital. McCann serves as a liaison between Froedtert Health’s finance department and Froedtert Hospital leadership, with a focus on communication of financial results and coordination of budgets. McCann has more than 20 years of experience in financial management at Milwaukee-area hospitals and health systems, having served most recently as director of reimbursement at Columbia St. Mary’s.

William Petasnick, who recently retired as the longstanding president and CEO of Froedtert Health System in Wauwatosa, has joined the board of directors of Erdman Company, a national health care consulting, facility planning, development, design and construction firm. Over his 19-year tenure, Froedtert Health grew to three hospitals, revenues of $1.2 billion, more than 41,500 inpatient admissions and a staff of more than 9,000.

Stanley F. Lo, Ph.D., associate professor of pathology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Wauwatosa, has been elected president of the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry: the Academy of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry. The American Association for Clinical Chemistry is an international society of clinical laboratory professionals, physicians, and research scientists involved with clinical chemistry. There are more than 8,000 members.

Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin has promoted Andrew Barth to director of specialty clinics and services. Barth joined Froedtert in 2006, serving initially as an administrative fellow, then moving into the director of ambulatory services role.

Dr. Siddhartha Singh, an internal medicine physician at Froedtert Hospital and associate professor of medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, has been appointed associate chief medical officer for Froedtert Hospital and Medical College Physicians. Medical College Physicians is the adult component of the Medical College’s group practice, which provides adult care in virtually every specialty of medicine at Froedtert Hospital and at Froedtert & The Medical College Clinics.

Wauwatosa-based Froedtert Health has promoted Dana Bode, to director of operational cardiac services for Froedtert Health Heart and Vascular network. Dawn Kutz was promoted to director of business process for the Froedtert Health Heart and Vascular Network.

Executive chef Bill Doyle has been named the new executive chef at the InterContinental Hotel in downtown Milwaukee. He has nearly 25 years of culinary experience, and previously worked as the executive chef for Doubletree Hotels at the age of 25 and most recently served as the executive chef at Renaissance Tulsa Hotel & Convention Center in Tulsa, Okla., where he was responsible for managing all culinary operations for the past eight years.

Legal Services

Milwaukee-based von Briesen & Roper S.C., has promoted attorney Shay Agsten to shareholder of the firm. In addition, William Jackson was hired as an attorney in the firm’s health care practice group.

Nicole Druckrey, a partner in Quarles & Brady LLP’s Milwaukee office, was elected to serve on the board of directors of Adoption Resources Wisconsin. Nikki Panico has been named the new executive director of the Southeast Wisconsin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Panico has volunteered as race co-chair for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure since 2011, which raised $1.2 million and drew 19,000 participants. She has 15 years of leadership and nonprofit management experience as an administrative manager at the Medical College of Wisconsin, associate director at Senior Community Services in Philadelphia, and associate director of the Center on Age and Community at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
