Emerging Business Award Winner, Elite Human Capital Group

Since its 2003 founding, Elite Human Capital Group has grown its revenues to $2.8 million and plans to break $5 million at the close of this year.

Because of its rapid success, Elite has received the 2006 Emerging Business Award by the Waukesha County Chamber of Commerce and Small Business Times.

After leaving retail work to be vice president of two national recruitment firms, Crystal Schroeder, owner of Elite, was confronted by a former co-worker.

“He wanted out of his current job, and I knew how to utilize his skills,” Schroeder said. “I thought, ‘Why am I not doing this? I’ve done this for other companies, and I know a better way of doing it.’”

The company’s employees have backgrounds in banking, insurance, investments, manufacturing, service, health care and retail segments.

“Elite is motivated by the desire to build a client-driven recruiting and staffing firm,” Schroeder said.

Elite offers direct placement, which are permanent positions, contract-to-hire, which are temporary contracts, and project placement services, wherein Elite places its people to work along with the hiring company to manage and successfully execute a project.

The company measures its “true measure of success” through its employees’ overall satisfaction with their positions. Elite’s growth has been a byproduct of its strong employees, Schroeder said.

“It’s about finding the right people and right match for a client,” Schroeder said. “We’re very hands on. There will be days we go in and mirror a position, what is the culture surrounding the job, what does the team look like, what kind of colleagues will the client have?”

The company’s task is not just about filling a job, but finding a culture and personality that fits the needs of everyone involved, Schroeder said.

“We get to know our client so well we’re as picky for them as if we are hiring for ourselves,” Schroeder said.
