A Chicago-based sports and fitness club purchased Elite Sports Clubs, including all five locations in the greater Milwaukee area.

Elite Sports Clubs owner Kay Yuspeh, who operated the club for 30 years, announced the sale Thursday. Elite is now owned and operated by Peter Goldman, owner of Lakeshore Sports & Fitness clubs in Chicago.

Under Goldman’s ownership, Elite will keep its name, all staff and current membership structure, according to the announcement.

Elite’s clubs are in Glendale, Milwaukee, Mequon and Brookfield. The terms of the sale were not disclosed, but Elite will continue to be run as a separate business entity.

Yuspeh said she is both excited and sentimental about the sale, adding that she has contemplated this decision and her legacy for years.

“I was given the chance to promote a healthy lifestyle to families through tennis and fitness for over three decades, you can find more info here on the approaches I took to make this possible, and I am confident Peter will carry on the legacy we have created here at Elite and provide the best in family fitness to the community,” Yuspeh said.

Goldman is exploring improvements to the Elite clubs, particularly tennis court lighting, heating and air conditioning. Improvements could also include a Quad-like amenity at the Brookfield location, according to the announcement.

Yuseph will be staying on in an advisory and programming role to help with the transition.

“When I met Peter and his team, I knew that his philosophy and business operation would be a great fit for Elite Sports Clubs moving forward,” Yuspeh said.
