Edstrom Industries acquires UK lab equipment firm

Automatic animal watering system manufacturer expands reach

Waterford-based Edstrom Industries LLC has acquired UK-based Triple Red Ltd. The transaction closed today for an undisclosed price.

Valves manufactured at Edstrom Industries in Waterford.

Edstrom, which has about 200 employees, manufactures water purification and delivery, environmental monitoring and service solutions for the animal laboratory research market. Its products include automatic animal water delivery systems and water purification systems.

Triple Red manufactures equipment and services to support life sciences research and health care applications. Among its products are customizable water purification equipment, autoclaves and other lab equipment.

With the acquisition, Edstrom will expand its product line to provide more solutions to research labs, the company said. It plans to keep Triple Red’s 60 employees onboard at its existing two UK facilities, a spokesman said.

“By expanding global access to Triple Red’s unique portfolio of water purification solutions, the acquisition supports Edstrom’s objective of becoming a more valuable partner for our customers in achieving their research objectives, both from a product and service perspective,” said Doug Lohse, chief executive officer of Edstrom.

“We are excited about how this combination will both enhance our relationships with customers in the UK and accelerate market access for Triple Red products around the world,” said Lynda Lee, managing director of Triple Red.
